The Carvoeiro Boardwalk is one of the most beautiful and accessible coastal walks in the Algarve. Starting at the fort in Carvoeiro, a flat, wheelchair-friendly wooden path (600 metres) runs alongside the ocean, offering stunning views of the golden cliffs.

At the end, you descend via stone steps to Algar Seco: an impressive labyrinth of rock tunnels and pools carved out by the sea. Here you’ll also discover the famous Gruta da Boneca, where you can look out over the Atlantic Ocean through two natural ‘eyes’ in the rock. Round off your walk with a drink at the unique Boneca Bar, tucked away amongst the rocks.

Please note: The wooden boardwalk at the top of the cliff is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The descent to the caves and the Gruta da Boneca involves stone steps and uneven rocks, so sturdy footwear and a reasonable level of mobility are recommended for the lower section.
